T I M B E R C O V E This is one of the most pristine fishing spots along the Sonoma Coast and home to the Timber Cove Inn, Restaurant, Wedding and Event Center. Located 17 miles north of Jenner, Timber Cove has become a popular romantic getaway, as well as a fishing destination for abalone divers and coastal fishermen seeking a wild and spectacular setting. In winter fresh water creeks cascade down sheer cliffs into the cove's turbulent green waters. On the weekends abalone, salmon, Pacific Coast snapper, ling cod, rock cod, sea urchins, mussels and seaweed are sold at the boat landing. A R E N A C O V E & P O I N T A R E N A The mid-coast region of Mendocino is a land of scenic splendor. Coastal mountains lunge toward lush meadows which end at high coastal bluffs. Highway One is a ribbon of black through this land that seasoned travelers have called some of the most beautiful scenery on earth. The roadsides near Manchester are lined with huge callas in spring, and decorated with wild carrot and radish flowers in summer. The Point Arena Lighthouse and museum is the historic sentinel landmark receiving lots of press – the only Pacific West Coast lighthouse of significant height (115 feet) which you can climb to the top. The lighthouse hosts a kite flying festival on Independence Day weekend, and moonlight tours of the tower, featuring live entertainment and winetasting. A N N A P O L I S One of the most interesting drives in the South Coast region is along the tiny Annapolis Road in northwestern Sonoma County. This lazy 14-mile stretch winds along the ridgelines, dropping in and out of remote and beautiful coastal valleys. Along the way, visit the small family winery tucked on a sunny hilltop or the golden Buddhist Temple on Tin Barn Road. T H E S E A R A N C H A few miles south of Gualala you will find The Sea Ranch, a world famous vacation spot known for its unique blending of architecture with nature in a simple, beautiful environment. The Sea Ranch stretches along ten miles and 5,000 acres of spectacular coastline.
